2011 CALENDAR PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The unexpected commercial success of the first calendar, and all of the legal wranglings associated with a project of that magnitude prevented the already controversial 2010  calendar (
Steve Boone 12 Months of Uncut Dick) from seeing the light of day, but we are pleased to announce that all camps have agreed to put aside these differences for the sake of the art.

You will not have to white out the days on your 2009 calendar again, in order to use it for the third year in a row because the 2011 calendar is almost here! Steven Boone 2011 Cauliflowlendar!  You are going to wish that 2011 was forever.

* Note that the calendar is not 3-D. I was going to make it 3-D but figured everyone would have a headache by March.

GAS GIANTS

Last night I dreamt that I lived back in my childhood home. One night from the front porch I could see Saturn and Jupiter massive in the sky, 3 to 4 times the size of the moon. I ran in to get my mom, dad and Pop to come see. By the time they all came out, the planets appeared bigger still, close to the horizon, and began to flicker and pulse wildly. I tried to take some pictures with my crappy Blackberry camera phone, but neighbors had gathered and were crowding the shots. Some of the blue planets also seemed to be falling in line, but it was mostly about Jupiter and Saturn.

FROSTY

Drawing of a dog I knew briefly.

BRIDGE

Here is a picture I took of a bridge coming home from DC (slightly shopped).

Last night I dreamt that I lived with some friends and family in a luxury resort home, seemingly some place tropical.  It was a tranquil environment except for a 12 foot tall ravenous bear that kept smashing through the fences and walls to attack us.  Her cub was very fond of me, and would show up anywhere I went, follow me to the store, into the bathroom, etc.  Hyper-protective mama bear, wasn't feeling it.

I think I had six or seven coffees today.  It's awesome!

Eventually, I had to find the bear's cave and draw some peace-offering-type images on the wall for her to understand my intentions and keep her from attacking the resort.  There was a bridge to the cave, the next island over.

LIKE

I think all the shows on BBC America should be made with American people doing fake British accents. Don't touch the grill.

"It is usually just WWF. It also usually just has one head... I've taken some liberties." -- in response to angry and confused young people on Deviant Art.

PHOTOGRAPHY

I made a tumblr account for my clunky-appless-cellphone photography.  I don't think these warrant regular updates on here, or in my gallery, but I did want to collect them online.  None have been Photoshopped, color corrected or cropped… just things I’ve noticed sent straight from the phone, like these.(It really is not a great camera... the fake shutter noise it makes sounds more like a cartoon character eating an apple.)

IMP CHIN AUGUST SHOW

Patrick from Imperial China asked if he could use one of my cartoons for a show flier when they come to Baltimore next month, so I said sure, then jumped ahead and made a full-blown flier for them. They are dope. Check them here, [link] or Saturday August 14th at the Metro Gallery in Baltimore. [link]

UNCOVERED

Here is my recent interpretation of the cover of Appleseed Book Three, Volume Four by Masamune Shirow that I originally purchased in 1990.  I submitted it to Covered, who passed, but it was a fun exercise. You can see the original cover here.

I.T.S. HIGHLIGHTS

Here are some of the more popular entries from my first few weeks of daily webcomicking at www.itastesound.com. It also appears to be developing a following of high school girls on the Facebook page. I guess that means I should nix the comic ideas I had involving the c-word for now.
